 Duncan Brown 

CEO and Founder

Duncan Brown is an accomplished scientist, lecturer, advisor, business executive and entrepreneur. Using his unique expertise in chemistry, manufacturing, operations and pan-Pacific business relations, Brown leads companies to successful results.

 

At Pacific Tech Link, Brown advises companies in US-Japanese business relations, and facilitates mergers and acquisitions between US and Japanese companies. He also is a sought-after business advisor, aiding in the growth of several companies.

 

Brown founded Pacific Tech Link in 2001 after decades of experience launching the Japanese division of ATMI, a US company he co-founded in 1986. At ATMI and ATMI Japan, Brown was integral in growing the company to $500 million in sales, including finance, corporate governance, technology development, strategic planning, human resources and planning.

 

A visiting professor and lecturer at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Yamagata University, and Princeton University, Brown also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Harvard University.

 

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Princeton University, and a doctorate in Chemistry at the California Institute of Technology.

Founder and Managing Director

Yumiko Fukushima turns the art of translation into a complete cultural immersion for international clients who need to learn how to conduct business among different cultures and languages.

 

A founder of Pacific Tech Link, Fukushima consults with American and Japanese companies and facilitates technology searches, market studies, license negotiations and intercompany relationship building, so companies can successfully communicate and pursue international business goals.

 

Fukushima also was communications manager at ATMI in Tokyo. Here, she monitored the quality of Japanese language materials in external communications including technical manuals, presentations, trade show exhibitions, and press releases.

 

She spent 18 years as a Japanese Studies lecturer at the University of California, San Diego. Prior to that, Fukushima created the Japanese language program at U.S. International University in San Diego. She has been a lecturer of Japanese and an international business liaison for nearly 40 years.

 

Fukushima earned a bachelor’s degree from Waseda University in Tokyo, and a master’s degree and doctorate in Asian Languages from the University of Washington in Seattle.

 Yumiko Fukushima 

Marketing and Design Fellow

Owen Resh combines concepts of design, engineering, technology and management to lead marketing efforts that engage audiences, increase sales and grow companies.

 

Prior to his current role, Resh was Director of Marketing at Aker Wade Power Technologies, a specialty electronic equipment manufacturer. He oversaw creation of the longest running and most successful campaign in the material handling industry, Convert to Electric™.

 

A consultant and co-founder of three design and consulting firms, Resh has provided design, marketing strategic guidance to companies of all sizes. At General Motors Design Center, he oversaw Design Strategy for the 2010 Chevrolet Volt Extended Range Electric Vehicle, winner of Best of What’s New from Popular Science, in addition to more than 30 other awards.

 

Resh earned a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
